The post office is usually the place where your larger mail will be kept if they missed you at home. Thay will leave you a receipt to go and pick it up or make a time for them to redeliver. You can either call them to schedule another delivery (If your Japanese is good enough) or you can drop in and arrange another delivery time if the package is too big.

You can also do your Japan Post banking here and make international money transfers.

More information on JapanPost can be found here

Membership to the weights and cardio gym is 1,000yen and then only 100yen each visit. This is the best deal for a gym I have ever come across. Even the gyms in Thailand were more expensive.
However, be warned that membership is an over administered bureaucratic trial which entails arriving on the right day and time to register you membership. Don't forget you Alien Registration Card. Once you are registered it really is worth the hassle.

The Numazu fish markets are a hub for fresh seafood shopping, particularly on weekends. The street directly running along the fish markets and the more attractively manicured street one back boast a variety of fresh fish stalls and seafood restaurants.

Wandering around the markets you might find long drying trays with fish that have been cut along the centre of the body splitting their eyes and folding them out to look like a strange Siamese twin fish. These are call hiraki and are said to be famous in Numazu.
